By 2030, Nepal will be in the center of the world, between the world’s biggest projected economy, China and the 3rd biggest, India. To take advantage of this immense opportunity or survive the burden whichever you prefer to call, we will have to start being recognized as a sovereign nation of excellence with its unique successes and not a cold, dark, impoverished shadow of its two giant neighbors. In one sentence, Nepal needs to be a ‘soft-power”.

Wikipedia defines Soft power as the ability to shape the preferences of others through appeal and attraction. One way Nepal can work towards a soft-power state and influence its neighbors and the rest of the world is by proving that we are a center of excellence (at things the rest of the world finds extremely appealing or attractive). And a way to do this is by competing with the world and excelling on the highest level. I believe, one of the best ways we can start our claim as a soft-power is by enabling Nepal to qualify for the FIFA men’s world cup of 2030 and the women’s in 2031. (

On April 25, 2015 at 11:56 am, I was on top of our office, an old building when the earth shook massively. It is probably one of the most helpless feeling I ever got in my life. I couldn’t move, couldn’t run. I froze there for few seconds before getting out of the building. I was lucky but thousands were not.

As soon as that minute was over,  I remembered our disaster preparation protocol, we had built just months ago: In case of a massive earthquake, first check on your family members safety then gather in the nearest hospital and start organizing to help the staff and government.

वैशाख १२ गते मध्याह्नमा जब ७.८ रेक्टर स्केलको भूकम्प गयो तब हामी सबैलाई यसको अर्थ महसुस हुन थाल्यो। गएको १ महिनामा हामी हजारौं अाम नागरिकलाई साथ लिई १७ जिल्लाका ३०० भन्दा बढी ठाउँमा राहत  र साथै २०० भन्दा बढी चिकित्सक टोलीहरु परिचालन गर्यौं। त्रास हटाउन मनोवैज्ञानिक परामर्शदाताको काम र महामारी फैलन नदिन सामाजिक स्वास्थ्यकर्मीलाई पनि परिचालन गर्यौं। महाविनाशकारी भूकम्पले सिर्जना गरेको अपार क्षतिसँग जुध्ने क्रममा सिकेका यी अनुभवहरुबाट विवेकशील नेपाली दलले देशको उत्थानको लागि ‘पाँच -आर (5R) रणनीति’ अघि सारेको छ। यस रणनीतिलाई हामीले यी को चरणमा वर्गीकरण गरेका छौं।

१) उद्धार (Rescue),
२) राहत (Relief),
३) पुनर्स्थापना (Rehabilitation),
४) पुनर्निर्माण (Reconstruction), र
५) पुनर्उत्थान (Resurgence)

अहिले नेपालमा उद्धार र राहत चरणको समाप्त हुँदै गरेको छ र पुनर्स्थापना चरणको सुरुवात हुन लागेको छ।अहिले सरकार लगायत सयौं संघसंस्था एवं व्यक्तिहरु स्वयंसेवी भावना बोकेर गाउँ गाउँमा उद्धार र राहत वितरणमा खटिईरहेका छन् । प्रभावितको दैनिक जीवनलाई सामान्य एवं सहज तुल्याउन उद्धार र राहत मात्र होईन
