Because if this country burns, we burn with it.

There is a difference between the one who rents a house, and the one who owns a house. The one who rents a house doesn’t care if the walls crack and crumble, they can always move to another house.

The one who owns a house knows that no one else will take care of it, thus they paint the walls and mend the cracks.
More than 75 % of Nepal’s population consists of young men and women like us.

The problem is that we behave like tenants of Nepal. We have let the older generation tear this country apart. We have let them use us to fight their battles. We have let them loot this country. We have let them fool us into thinking that we’re not fit to run this country ourselves.

So we hide in our alcohol, in our religions and on the Internet as if there is some other Nepal out there that we shall move to when this one crumbles. We sit at home and wait for others to fight for

Nepal Politics 101: Don’t let them wear you down.

If there is one tactic that political forces in Nepal use all the time, most effectively it is this:

They wear you down !

Lets say, you have been victimized. So you launch a hunger strike or agitation or a pressure campaign for your demands to be addressed. In Nepal, your opponents (political forces, government etc) will wait till the last moment and then they promise you something they know they are not capable of delivering. Then they come to you amid-st huge media attention and declare that they have gladly addressed the demands. Everyone (media, your supporters, public) thanks them for helping solve the problem they started.

After assuming that this case has been settled now, your supporters and media attention now shifts to someone else with a new exciting cause. You yourself feel confident your demands are very close to be met. You get taken to meet a few high flying people in the government or political force/organization/party/alliance. You feel your cause is getting due attention. More promises follow. But as time passes slowly you realize this negotiation is just a stalling tactic. You realize that you will have to compromise your demands a bit, because that

“There are thousands hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root.”

25 rules I usually follow to be effective in Social Media

Here are my social media 101 tips for all who wants to use social media effectively for your organization, business or your personal campaigns. I have learnt this the hard way 🙂 and I try (painfully at times) to live by these guidelines!

  1. Be Kind in your posts.
  2. Don’t be stupid.
  3. Lazy questions get lazier answers.
  4. Use stories backed by facts, datas and verify them before using.
  5. You won’t benefit from anonymous criticisms. Ignore them. (Seth godin said this).
  6. Don’t follow people you don’t want to follow (on Twitter or Facebook) o whose posts you have started finding boring. Keep your timeline distraction free.
  7. Keep private posts private. Don’t mix your personal with public.
  8. Don’t fight publicly. Handle hurtful, critical comments and trolls with comments, “noted” or “acknowledged”. Ban them if they are pesky.
  9. Don’t defend or justify unless you believe you have made a terrible mistake. Acknowledge and move on. Statements like “Let’s agree to disagree” helps.
  10. Negative posts get a cynical responses (you might get a lot of feedback, but people will not respect you in the long run).
  11. Be positive. People love that. Be creative when provoking or holding others accountable.
  12. Consistently show your

Just change 1% !

Forget about changing yourself full or half ,25% or even 10%. How about just changing 1% more? Remember, Scientists have told us that we are only 1% different from Monkeys (genetically). Yet we, humans have managed to do so many wonderful things,(and bad things too) that sets us apart from these monkeys. If this 1% difference has caused so much visible change, here’s a question for us all.

Why can’t you and I just change ourselves 1% MORE ? (from where we are now) If we concentrated (focused) on changing ourselves in this tiny 1%, we surely would change our nation, our world, our Earth.

And to Nepalis: Would you not like to be 1% different than the herds of sheep-minded Nepalis we are now? I believe, It’s only that bit that will make us  nobler, sensible, honest and pro-active Nepalis ! What could be these 1% change ? Here are a few among millions of 1% changes for those who are looking for clues.

  1. how about switching from plastics to cloth bags ?
  2. calling and spending 5 minutes complaining to the road department to fix your roads
  3. cleaning a small part of temple every time you go there
  4. Be
