As Nepalis we may be individually excellent, but collectively as a Nation, we are a failure! (so far)

  1. A Nepali student (Lujendra Ojha) has found water on Mars. We Nepali don’t manage properly to have enough safe drinking water despite having the water resources that sustains 1.3 billion people.
  2. A Nepali doctor (Sanduk Ruit) cures blindness from thousands of people around the world. Every year, Nepali citizens turn a blind eye to polluted rivers, polluted leadership, polluted culture of “yestai ho”.
  3. A Nepali woman (Anuradha Koirala) becomes a CNN Hero for outstanding service for humanity for work against women trafficking. But, 7000 Nepali girls are sold by Nepali citizens to Brothels around the world every year, while the nation looks aside.
  4. A Nepali entrepreneur (Upendra Mahato) is a billionaire, a smart Nepali who has shown us how to succeed. On the other hand, Nepal asks for food aid every year to feed hungry Nepali in western Nepal.
  5. A Nepali designer (Prabal Gurung) dresses the most powerful and beautiful women in the World. As we know, Nepal as a nation cannot even manufacture needles.

किन?

तथ्यांक अनुसार नेपालमा सूर्तीजन्य पदार्थको सेवनबाट मुटु, श्वासप्रश्वास, क्यान्सरजस्ता रोगले दैनिक ४४ जनाको मृत्यु हुन्छ भने यसबाट सिर्जित हुने रोगको उपचारमा १६ अर्ब रुपैयाँभन्दा बढी खर्च भइरहेको छ। 

कहाँ निषेध छ ?

  • सरकारी निकाय, शिक्षण संस्था, पुस्तकालय, विमानस्थल, सार्वजनिक सवारी साधन, बालकल्याण गृह, शिशु स्याहार केन्द्र, बृद्धाश्रम, अनाथालय, बाल उद्यान क्लब, सार्वजनिक शौचालय, चलचित्र घर, सांस्कृतिक केन्द्र, होटल, भोजनालय, सवारी प्रतीक्षालय, रंगशाला र छात्रावासजस्ता स्थानलाई सार्वजनिक स्थल तोकेर धुम्रपान प्रतिवन्ध गरेको छ।
  • सार्वजनिक स्थानमा धुम्रपान गर्न नपाइने सूचना देखिने गरी नराखे सम्बन्धित निकायले समेत ५ हजार रुपैयाँ जरिवाना तिर्नुपर्छ।
  • ऐनले १८ वर्ष नपुगेका र गर्भवती महिलालाई सुर्तीजन्य पदार्थ बिक्रीवितरण गैरकानुनी मानेको छ।
  • त्यसैगरी सुर्तीजन्य पदार्थको बिक्रीवितरणमा प्रवर्द्धन र प्रायोजन हुने सन्देश सञ्चारमाध्यममा प्रचारप्रसार गर्न पाइँदैन।
  • यसको उल्लंघन गरे कसुर हेरी एक सयदेखि एक लाख रुपैयाँसम्म जरिवाना हुन्छ।
  • त्यसैगरी शिक्षण संस्था, स्वास्थ्य संस्था, बालकल्याण गृह, शिशु स्याहार केन्द्र, बृद्धाश्रम र अनाथालयको सय मिटरभित्र बिक्रीवितरण गर्न पाइँदैन।
  • ऐनले फुटकर चुरोटबिँडी बिक्रीलाई समेत प्रतिबन्ध गरेको छ।
  • सय मिटरवरिपरि र फुटकर बिक्री गरेमा १० हजार रुपैयाँ जरिवाना गर्नसक्ने प्रावधान छ।

Bagmati, near Sundarijal is refreshingly pure. As we touch it, we start turning it toxic. We need to change our habits.

Krishna Mandir in Patan is heart stopping! The houses we have built around it, since, aren’t. We need to re-think what “progress” means.

Kathmandu is fresh. Just smell the air as you walk down on its streets at dawn. As the day progresses we turn it into a smog hole. We need to reconsider our life-style.

The apples of Mustang are delicious! How many of us have tasted them? Yet we import apples from the US daily. We need to reconsider our priorities.
