How to distinguish between a leader or ruler in Nepal ?

Here are some differences I have noticed between our Nepali rulers stuck in 19th/20th century status quo and the 21st century relevant leaders that Nepal probably wants.

What we have: Rulers	What we seek: Leaders
Romanticizes on 19th & 20th century ideologies without evolving.	are pragmatic and willing to change views when proved by facts and research
Believe in ‘Win – Lose’	Believe in ‘Win -Win’
Teaches followers to ‘follow’	Mentor followers to ‘lead’
Transparency is ‘dreaded’	Transparency is ‘compulsory’
Accountable to only ‘followers’	Accountable to ‘citizens’
Response style: “beat around the bush”	Response style: Straight to the point .
Over-promises, under-delivers	Under-promises, over-delivers
Good speeches	Good outcomes
Divide and rule	Unite and

सायद यस्तै सोच अहिले तपाईँ अनि लाखौँ नेपालीको मनमा घुमिरहेकोछ होला। यो स्वभाविकै हो। जताततै निराशाले छाएको अवस्थामा यसको उत्तर प्रष्टसँग पाउन गाह्रो पनि छ। तपाईंले खोजेको प्रश्ट उत्तर पाउन पहिलेतपाईं आफैले यी केही प्रश्नहरुको जवाफ खोज्नै पर्छ।

१) के तपाईंलाई अस्पतालबाट क्लिनिक ‘रिफर’ गरिएको छ ?

२) के तपाईंलाई डक्टरले हतार-हतारमा जाँची धपाएको छ ?

३) के तपाईंलाई अाफ्नो जाँच रिपोर्ट एउटा डक्टरमा पत्यार नलागी फरक फरक डक्टरलाई देखाउनु परेको छ ?

४) के तपाईंले मनमनै कुनै अस्पताललाई “ठग” भन्नु भएको छ ?

५) के तपाईंलाई कहिले डक्टरबाट फर्कदा गोजी नै रित्तिएको अनुभव भा छ ?

६) के तपाईंलाई अामा-बा बिरामी हुँदा “त्यो खेतबारी बेच्नु पर्छ कि क्या हो” जस्ता सोच जागेको छ ?

७) के तपाईंलाई “नेपालमा त अब भरै लागेन बरु दिल्ली, लखनऊ नै लग्नु पर्छ कि क्यो हो ?” जस्तो भा छ ?

८) के तपाईंलाई “ त्यो अस्पताल त जानै नपरोस् बरु झाँक्री/ बैधेबाटै निको पार्छु” भन्ने प्रण गर्नु भा छ ?

These actions in our history have helped much to shape Nepal of today:

The culture of building temples all over Nepal ( Traders and artisans of the Malla era deserve respect for innovating and then immortalizing our distinct Nepali architecture). Kathmandu must have been one of the most beautiful cities of the world 3 centuries ago.
Unification of modern state of Nepal in the 18th Century by Prithivi Narayan Shah and his younger son, Bahadur Shah. We are a nation called ‘Nepal’ because of their brute determination.
Signing of Sugauli Treaty with the powerful ‘sun never sets’ British Empire (Bhimsen Thapa and fellow military and civilian leaders actions perhaps saved Nepal from dissolving into the British Empire). Sadly it also bought in the autocratic Rana regime.
People’s revolutions that ended the Rana rule in 1953, the absolute monarchy in 1990 and the monarchy itself in 2008. (Nepali citizens dared to remove dictatorship in 3 phases).
Nepali soldiers in international peace building United Nations forces and in World Wars 1 and 2 as Gurkhas: (Their exemplary services have presented one

Buddha was born in Nepal. So what?

Yes, Buddha was born in Lumbini, around 2600 years ago, which is now in Nepal. I am very proud of that he was born here!
But the real question we Nepali should be asking each-other now is:

Would Buddha want to be re-born in Nepal of today?

Would he approve of our pin-drop silence against injustice and impunity in Nepal?
Would he salute the long lines of young men and women in a hurry to leave their motherland, that our elders turned into a place of dead-ends and despair?
Would he embrace his fellow Nepalis who try to divide themselves along our castes, religions and material wealth?
Would he keep smiling while some of his countrymen kill our own kin in the name of change?
Would he sit idly while we butcher animals in a ritual sacrifice to appease gods or sell girls to prostitution?
Would he help us when we prefer to sit silent like sheep while our rulers rape any dignity that is left
